A Quilt Retreat Weekend for MEN!
September 5, 6, 7 - 2008
We've searched and searched but we
can't find anyone else that is offering this to the quilting men of
the world
--
a retreat
dedicated
and organized
for the male quilter! So we thought we would put one out there and see if it clicked!
The format for the Men's Retreat is going to be very similar to our
very own Brown Bag Retreats -- you bring your own!
Bring your own what?
Bring your own sewing/quilting project and work on what you want to
complete.
There are no workshops to attend. There are no classes to attend. There
are no deadlines to meet. There are no appointment times to rush off to.
There is you. Your sewing machine (You bring your own). Your own six-foot
table (we supply the table). Your own project. Your own wall or floor outlet
that you don't have to share with anyone else (You do need to bring a surge
protector though).
We have our own 2,400 square foot retreat center located right next
to our shop, The Creation Station Fabric & Quilt Shop. It's nice and convenient
in case you leave something behind or are inspired to start something
new.
Doors to the Retreat Center open at 8 am on Friday morning. You can
sew as long as you wish, even straight through the night if you want.
The Retreat ends on Sunday at 3 pm.
Friday night is a potluck dinner. Each quilter brings their favorite
dish (It can be a main dish, salad or dessert). We'll even have a grill
on hand if you would like to cook over an open flame. On Saturday night, we serve four different home-cooked soups, several
varieties of fresh-baked bread and a fresh, green salad. It's a tradition
we began at our very first retreat and attendees love to sample the specially
prepared fare.
The point of our retreat is for you to get some work done and hopefully
make some new friends while you are here. It may help to visit our page
for our Brown Bag Retreats. As mentioned above, we're following that
format for this first-ever experiment. You can read about our Brown Bag
Retreats by clicking here.
We'll be listening very closely to the suggestions of those who attend
this first-time offering to find what it is the male quilter is looking
for in a weekend retreat.
Sign-ups are being taken now and space is still
available. You can download the registration form here.
