Brown Bag Retreat General Information

Welcome quilters! Our Brown Bag Retreats are a weekend getaway, just for you. Come relax and enjoy the company of new friends, great food, and of course quilting! There’s something magical about being in a room full of other people who love the same craft and understand the sanctity of your fabric scissors! All retreaters must be over the age of 18.

Our retreats cost $100 per person. This includes a seat, a 6’ table, and dinner on Saturday. You can add the prior Wednesday or Thursday to your retreat for an additional $50 per day. Note that these are add-on days and cannot be booked unless you also book a seat for the 3-day weekend. Lodging is available nearby but not provided in the retreat fee. You may stay wherever you like nearby, but be sure to book well ahead of time. Our valley is a popular destination and rooms will book quickly, especially during peak seasons.

Our retreats are very laid-back, so that you can work on whichever project your heart desires. Our quilters often bring snacks to share with everyone. Friday night is our pot luck dinner, and you will sign up to bring a salad, main course, or dessert when you sign up for the retreat. Saturday night is our soup supper, provided by us here at The Creation Station and served with bread and salad. We do our best to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions, but if you have extreme needs please plan to make your own arrangements. There is a small kitchenette in the retreat center that has a coffee maker, refrigerator, small freezer, convection oven, microwave, and sink. Breakfasts and lunches are not provided and you will be on your own for these meals, though there are often plenty of leftovers from Saturday night’s soup supper!

On Saturday, our friend and local masseuse, Mattie Cano, will be on-hand to lend her talent to our aching backs. Relaxing chair massages will be available for a small fee of $1 per minute. After sewing all day, it’s a nice treat!

Space for our retreats is limited and we sell out quickly. Don’t hesitate to book your spot! Retreat confirmations are sent out one month prior to the retreat and include a “packing list” of suggested items that past retreaters recommend you bring. Every retreat is B.Y.O.P. (bring your own project) and if you forget something, don’t worry, the shop is just next door!

Cancellation Policy

We want to make sure that everyone understands our cancellation policy BEFORE you register for a retreat. We make no exceptions to this policy. We have made it as black and white as possible so that it is fair for everyone. The following is our current and continuing cancellation policy.

  • Should you need to cancel, you must contact us either by telephone or in person. Cancellations received at least 60 days prior to the retreat date will receive a full refund at the time of cancellations.
  • If you cancel less than 60 days prior to the retreat, a full refund will only occur if your seat is filled from our waiting list. Every attempt will be made to fill your space from our waiting list, however we do not begin taking names for our waiting list until a retreat is sold out.
  • If your space is filled from our waiting list, we will refund your fee after the date of your cancelled retreat or you may use your refund fee toward the purchase of a future open retreat date.
  • Retreat fee does not constitute “ownership” of your space. You may not sell, trade, or barter your space to anyone else.
